Gartner Group in Annual Report
As retail leaders converged on New York City this past month at the NRF Big Show to learn more about operating with greater efficiency after struggling through another Christmas season, ecVision
announced the launch of a Develop module for product development and planning to add to its suite of tools for retailers and brands.

Used by sourcing teams, designers, overseas buying offices, suppliers and agents, the Develop module in XpressCommerce® is the latest addition to ecVision’s solution that consolidates PDM, PLM and SCE functionality - creating an unmatched offering in this vertical space. This module encompasses all aspects of product, material and vendor management. When combined with XpressCommerce’s Source, Reserve and Audit modules all functional requirements of PLM and Sourcing business processes for apparel and footwear retailers and private label brands are addressed.
“It is important to point out that ecVision is delivering more product features at a time when other PLM providers are merging or acquiring to stay afloat and support the demand for new functionality that addresses the needs of retailers in a single solution,” said Thomas Ng, CEO. “We have a strong team of industry experts with real-world experience, enabling ecVision to broaden our solution with a practical business approach leveraging Java and Web Services technology as a focal point.”

ecVision, an award winning provider of product lifecycle and supply chain software solutions, has been rated in Gartner’s annual research report “MarketScope for PLM in Apparel, Footwear and Accessories” (ID Number: G00171001). ecVision believes its inclusion this year is attributed to its strategic initiatives to broaden the scope of its PLM capabilities.
Retail Analysts Marc Halpern and Peter Bambridge identify a trend for solution providers providing AFA organizations with extensions to the typical PLM and SC applications that address the need to “manage increasing risk in new product launches, produce tighter forecasts of sales by line, address increased pressures to make the right decisions, and use offshore sourcing to keep costs low.”

Source Module in XpressCommerce 9.1 Improves Global Supplier Collaboration

In July 2009, ecVision announced the general availability of an enhanced version of XpressCommerce. The enhancements in XpressCommerce version 9.1 include greater functionality in the Source module, primarily used by sourcing teams, buyers, technical designers, suppliers, overseas buying offices and agents.

XpressCommerce is a modular, configurable, web-based solution for private label owners and manufacturers to facilitate better relationships with trading partners through standardized documents and process flow from product development to receipt.
“The functionality in this release provides the tools for retailers to improve the collaboration and visibility across the disparate supplier base during the important phase of product costing and sampling,” said Cheryl Layne, VP of Products and Solutions for ecVision. “Armed with the information that aids in making important seasonal production line and supplier selection decisions, brand owners can expect to increase margins through lower production and shipment costs.”
