Portal Technology Helps Strengthen
Retail Supply Chains
|
 |
Phillips-Van
Heusen Corporation, the global apparel
industry giant, is enhancing its supply chain management
capabilities with a revolutionary product lifecycle
management (PLM) system to support its extensive
sourcing operations. |
Provided by ecVision, XpressCommerce® will
be deployed as an online solution used by sourcing teams
in the United
States, Latin America and Asia to collaborate on global
product design and development tasks.
|
|
The
web-based, role-based application serves as a common
platform to consolidate pre-production tracking data,
standardize product costing, and provide a means of collaboration
across the globally-distributed network. ecVision’s
strong reporting capabilities will be enhanced by the
data consolidation created through integration to an
external product design (PDM) system. The system will
provide the retailer with a comprehensive supplier management
process ensuring that brand quality, competitive pricing
and better product delivery dates are achieved.
|
|
“We
believe this technology will tightly mesh our supplier
and sourcing operations around the world while delivering
greater value chain benefits to our customers,” says
Don Grant, Group Vice President IT at PVH. “We
are impressed with ecVision’s agility to work with
our internal teams at multiple levels to implement a
solution that will enhance our sourcing operations.”
|
|
Future phases of additional functionality ecVision will
deliver include more robust and detailed costing, cross-functional
calendaring, and supplier capacity planning tools.

While
it’s hard to ignore the current economic and retail
meltdown — especially as we watch daily sales tallies
during what should be our favorite high-spending season — it’s
worth noting that smart consumer goods manufacturers and
brand owners are still investing in supply chain technology.
|
|
These
investments, some made quietly, are geared to help firms
enhance their expansive supplier networks through technology
portals. Case in point: Three giant retailers are deploying
supplier portal solutions from ecVision to be used by vendors
and internal sourcing teams as they collaborate on global
supply chain management and shipment tasks. .

ecVision Meets
the 10+2 Requirement Head-On
|
|
What is the
potential impact of the new 10+2 requirement on global
supply chains? It could mean longer lead times, higher
landed costs, and huge technology changes as retailers,
importers, consolidators and logistics carriers all
scramble to meet the requirement.
|
|
ecVision
XpressCommerce enables importers and their supply
chain partners to capture the necessary information
and channel it quickly to the responsible parties.

PLM/SCM space with new customer acquisitions
bringing online hundreds of new users. Two major
product releases have added business and infrastructure
functionality that enhances the reporting capabilities
and framework infrastructure for system efficiency
and ease-of-use. Additionally, it developed and
