ecVision is
addressing the need for private label and specialty
retailers to quickly “right size” their
expansive sourcing and supply chain operations.
In today’s grueling economy, retailers
are struggling to optimize their supply chain
networks to decrease risk and achieve greater
price margins. These organizations will turn
to technology solutions to transform business
processes, but any additional expenditure is
under greater scrutiny and new investments will
require shorter payback periods. |
|
Offered
as a Hosted & On-Demand model, in addition to
License & Install, ecVision XpressCommerce® is
a web-based solution that connects retailers to their
supplier network and delivers the functions of product
lifecycle management (PLM) and supply chain execution
(SCE) systems in a single solution. The key functionality
provides retailers with product management capabilities
through master data tables. This allows complete
end-to-end visibility throughout the lifecycle process
from capacity and raw material reservations, global
sourcing and costing negotiations, order management,
production tracking and logistics. The framework
supporting this functionality includes strong collaboration,
reporting and visibility tools to provide management
with the ability to make proactive decisions about
the product lifecycle and supply chain operation.

|
“This
delivery method is a beneficial way to swiftly and
easily implement a software solution with minimal
investment in hardware or labor,” said Thomas
Ng, CEO of ecVision.
Industry statistics show that SaaS implementations
in the supply chain arena are a decisive option because
they achieve ROI quickly through rapid adoption while
minimizing IT expenses and overhead. Recent analyst
research from both AMR Research and Aberdeen Group
states that this approach to licensing is more economical
and can garner “quick wins” that are
critical to justifying expenses. Furthermore, as
the network of suppliers shifts or expands, bringing
these groups online will be easier through a hosted
service.

With
the release of XpressCommerce version 9.0 in January,
ecVision has delivered greater configurability features
to its user base. This key modification provides system
administration-level users the ability to make post-implementation
configuration changes to the software installation.
|
|
|
“ecVision is putting
our customer demands and trends ahead of potential
revenue stream by pushing configuration capabilities
down to the customer,” said Cheryl Layne,
VP of Products and Solutions at ecVision. “As
the economy tightens up on IT budgets, we want
to ensure that our customers have options to
save money by utilizing internal resources to
manage their software installations and take
control of some aspects of the programming to
modify business processes that are critical to
the operation.”
In AMR Research’s report on 2008 Product
Innovation and PLM Spending nearly half of the
survey participants stated they will rely on
in-house resources for product development, a
dramatic shift from the previous year where 60%
planned to use software vendor resources.
|
|
The
business process relates to specific documents
in the software system (i.e., purchase order,
ASN, etc.) and establishes the logic of the information
flow that enables the product to continue to
move. Similar to a chain that connects one link
to the next, a supply chain management software
solution needs to link information between all
of the parties involved in the product lifecycle.
When all of the links are connected and the system
is functioning efficiently, the information and
goods are flowing. XpressCommerce integrates
with other technology solutions to create a single
system of record for data and activities shared
with others.

ecVision® and Kurt
Salmon Associates Release Change Management
Whitepaper
|
ecVision
and Kurt Salmon Associates (KSA), the leading
management consulting firm specializing in
the retail and consumer products industries,
recently released a joint whitepaper that
is available for free download.
|
|
A
key element to any software automation project
is Change Management. KSA offers Change Management
support as part of its consulting services
to assist during and after implementation
of PLM and supply chain solutions to retailers
working in a global environment. In this
paper, KSA discusses its approach to change
management, which is centered on communication,
education and training, risk management,
and organizational alignment. Rather than
reacting to change, KSA’s approach
addresses it proactively, which helps companies
understand and successfully assimilate to
the change as it occurs, making the odds
of success of change adoption much greater
and minimizing risk of failure.
|
|
Being
a customer-focused company means more to
ecVision
than just selling software. ecVision realizes
that even the most successful enterprises can
experience failure because they unsuccessfully
manage change when implementing a software
solution. ecVision can deliver the “right” technology,
our customers can deliver the “right” people
to utilize that technological solution, but
there is still the need for the “right” strategy
to proactively manage all of this change. As
a premier consulting firm in the retail and
consumer products space, KSA is a natural fit
for ecVision customers. It focuses on product
development, global sourcing, and supply chain
management, and it has an implementation bias--designing
solutions
based on real-world experience. |
