ISELIN, NJ, June 5, 2009– Hong Kong-based global consumer goods exporter Li & Fung Limited is enhancing its supply chain management capabilities with a revolutionary portal to support its extensive supplier network. Provided by ecVision, Li & Fung has deployed a supplier portal that will be used by vendors and internal sourcing teams as they collaborate on global supply chain management and shipment tasks.

The web-based, role-based application serves as a common platform to standardize trade and customs documents, consolidate shipment data, and provide a means of collaboration between the vendors and the agents. With its extensive global presence, Li & Fung operates a sourcing network of over 80 offices covering over 40 economies across North America, Europe and Asia.

The initial phase of the project is a portal to strengthen relationships with suppliers by coordinating processes, boosting productivity and providing better access to information. Additional enhancements include an online system for scheduling quality inspectors and reporting results back to Li & Fung.

Also, noteworthy is the aggressive timeline for development and launch of this project. ecVision started building the solution in April 2008 and it was launched by the end June. The rollout has been incremental with an additional 50 to 200 suppliers coming online each week. Li & Fung expects to support in excess of 7,000 suppliers on this portal this year and plans to use the technological advantages to extend and diversify into new markets to achieve lower costs for the retail customers it services.
