XpressCommerce ® Order Module

The product line is complete and we cross into the supply chain execution (SCE) functions. Here buyers use automation to place orders with their vendors, agents, factories or raw materials suppliers. Once orders are placed, buying departments still need to maintain control of the order by enabling everyone in the process – sourcing and production, quality assurance, and logistics teams – thus ensuring that the product continues to move quickly through the supply chain cycle.

In addition to improving cycle time, enterprises that increase the percentage of transactions conducted electronically can realize an average product cost that is over 45% lower than their peers (source: AMR Research).

As a comprehensive Product Lifecycle Execution™ (PLE™) solution, XpressCommerce® encompasses both PLM and SCE functionality creating a unique offering that is a dynamic tool for product development and planning. These advanced capabilities help organize product information from the initial concept through to delivery and provide the necessary collaboration and visibility to everyone involved in these processes.

XpressCommerce serves as the sole source of product information by closely integrating with external systems. The masters are a central repository for product information, including a history of all changes. This data is accessed throughout the lifecycle and keeps the ‘product' as the focal point for all future activity.

Throughout the Order phase, pertinent data is seamlessly tied together data from the tech packs, RFQ and costing sheets, eliminating redundant data entry errors. The solution allows retailers and trading partners to quickly collaborate on change orders to respond to changing market conditions.

Additional tools that help users effectively manage the process are part of the framework. They include:

  • Alerts are automatically generated based on each client's business rules, and include an automated escalation feature to ensure proper managerial oversight – enabling true management-byexception.
  • Dashboard and reports provide a rollup or summary status for the entire line that highlights where major issues need attention. This robust feature enables users to create, run, save, schedule, print or export comprehensive reports with summary, drilldown and tabular capabilities.
  • Trading partner collaboration enables secured access to data by outside trading partners that participate in the development process – defining, building and maintaining the relationship between each organization. This provides more efficient communication while maintaining tight access control throughout the system.
The Order Module provides functionality for purchasing and sourcing agents to create and manage purchase orders (PO) online, which are then electronically presented to vendors for acknowledgment, collaboration, and/or approval. Orders can be split by styles, quantities, or ship dates to react to supply and demand fluctation.
Typically, purchase orders are changed an average of 3 times during the Order process. XpressCommerce includes batch update functionality to make this activity more efficient and time-saving. Version control features manage all PO changes with alert mechanisms and exception reporting and maintain the history with each PO record. Retail oganizations also have the ability to issue blanket purchase orders and shipment orders that relate to the original PO.
Additionally, raw materials can be ordered through the system and married with purchase orders and finished good shipment data.
Once all the necessary documents are in place, the factory can start production and move the product into the Ship phase were XpressCommerce will manage the logistics documentation and tracking process. Read on about ecVision’s capabilities in the Ship module.

The adopted plan can move ahead to the next step in the process using the Ship module..
