What are the benefits of applying RFID? The ability to identify specific items
in the supply chain will make organizations
more effective, by enabling true visibility
of information about them.
Having more accurate,
immediate information about the location
of items, the history of items, and the number
of items in the supply chain will enable
organizations to be more responsive to customers
and consumer needs through more efficient,
customer-driven operations.
From site survey to
production, ecVision will handle all the
necessary steps to help manufacturers
meet compliance mandates required by their
customers. To support manufacturers in meeting
these RFID requirements, ecVision offers a
complete RFID solution containing all components,
readers, tags, antennas, software and professional
services, necessary for designing and installing
an RFID system. |

RFID stands for 'radio frequency identification'. It is a technology that has
existed for decades. At a simple level, it is a technology that involves tags
that emit radio signals and devices called readers that pick up the signal.
The
Electronic Product Code (EPC) is a unique number that identifies a specific
item in the supply chain. The EPC is stored on a radio frequency identification
(RFID) tag, which combines a silicon chip and an antenna. Once the EPC is retrieved
from the tag, it can be associated with dynamic data such as from where an
item originated or the date of its production. Much like a Global Trade Item
Number (GTIN) or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), the EPC is the key that
unlocks the power of the information systems.
ecVision's
XpressChain RFID, a solution based on the global
standards set by EPCglobal, enables an organization to store carton level details containing the content
information when RFID tags are applied. For cross-dock
or drop shipments, this RFID solution can support
RFID label application directly at the factory, logistics
provider or distribution center and companies will
have access to a data warehouse of information for
all cartons/pallets that have been shipped with RFID
as the identifier.
XpressChain RFID allows for automatic grouping of cartons to pallets based on
RFID scanning and verification and allows printing of integrated EPC/barcode "smart
labels" at both the carton and pallet levels. |
